From the The Chronicles of Teliboria, the Ghost of Double Beard (the story of pirate Tiberius Blackbeard) and the Shipwreck in Saltwater‘s Bay.

In the dark waters of Teliboria, fear wasn’t just carried by steel and cannon fire. It was conjured through arcane rituals, and now lingers, sealed by an immortal curse. Tiberius Blackbeard, known as Double Beard, was no ordinary pirate. His name echoes in the nightmares of Southern Teliboreans, a shadow of terror that endures long after his defeat.

Though his ghost is bound deep within the wreckage of his flagship, his presence has never left. It lurks in the waters, waiting for those daring—or foolish—enough to disturb his haunted grave. Few have returned from such an expedition, but all who live in Saltwater feel his presence, as if his spirit haunts not just the sea, but their very memories.

Tiberius Blackbeard. A name that struck terror into the hearts of sailors and coastal settlements. A man whose reputation for brutality was matched only by his hunger for dark magic. But this notorious pirate did not start as the monster he would become. The Blackbeard family moved to Teliboria 30 years ago, a family steeped in arcane magic. The Blackbeards arrived on the shores of Teliboria as traders. In the great city of Novawindë, the family’s arcane talents were respected, though always feared. Elspeth studied the dead, Morgana manipulated minds, and Rowena read the stars. Tiberius, though, had other dreams. He took to the sea, joining the crew of a merchant ship. His talents for leadership and ruthless tactics saw him quickly rise through the ranks. But it wasn’t long before Tiberius’s thirst for power took him beyond simple trade…

Tiberius left the world of lawful trade behind, turning to piracy. But unlike other pirates, Tiberius wielded more than just a sword. He had magic. Black magic. And so, the name Double Beard was born—whispered across the seas. His ship, The Abyssal Fang, became feared not just for its cannons but for the rituals performed on board. He commanded a small coven of dark sorcerers, each casting curses on rival crews, ensuring victory by more than just might.

But no reign lasts forever.

During a large-scale assault on the city of Saltwater, Double Beard and his crew launched a coordinated attack with multiple pirate ships. The pirates seized control of Rock Island, landing troops and bombarding Saltwater with relentless cannon fire. The battle raged for a full day, with the city’s defenders holding their ground against overwhelming odds.

At the heart of the defense stood General Juliana, a brilliant strategist whose leadership turned the tide. Even as she fell, mortally wounded, her soldiers fought with unmatched bravery. As the battle turned in favor of Saltwater, Double Beard attempted a desperate escape. His flagship, The Abyssal Fang, continued to rain cannon fire and magical attacks on the city even as it was torn apart by Saltwater’s defenders. The ship was finally sunk near the Lighthouse of the Azure Coast. In his final moments, Tiberius unleashed a powerful curse, binding his body and soul to the wreckage of his ship, forever haunting the waters of Saltwater.

Your players visiting Saltwater will soon hear the tale of Tiberius Blackbeard and the wreck of the Abyssal Fang, which rests ominously near the shores of the Azure Coast district, close to the lighthouse. Tavern patrons will gladly share stories of the cursed ship, while almost every Saltwater local knows some version of the rumors surrounding the haunted wreck. Should the players seek out Blackbeard’s three sisters in Novawindë, they may uncover even deeper insights into his dark past.

Adventurers drawn to the wreck may seek treasures or hidden knowledge, but they will face daunting trials, both magical and physical. Dangerous enchanted sea creatures, cursed artifacts, and the ghostly remnants of Blackbeard’s crew await any who dare approach. To reach the heart of the ship and confront Tiberius Blackbeard’s ghost is to challenge the very source of his dark power. However, beware! Only those who unravel the full truth of his curse can hope to break it—and claim the elusive treasure of Double Beard.
